Hello Golfers! With the winter months coming now is a really good time to hit the reset button with our golf and also our equipment. If you have read any of my ball reviews then you will know I won’t stop banging the door down about getting your golf ball fit for you. That said, this month we have another option from the golf ball world. When it comes to golf balls, the market is crowded with big names promising big things – distance, control, feel, and the ever-elusive ‘tour-level performance’. And now there’s Seed Golf Balls, the quiet achiever from Ireland, delivering premium quality.

This month we have three different models from Seed Golf from their premium range of golf balls; The Tour Pro Ball, The Pro One and the Pro X1. If you have not heard of the Seed Golf Balls here is a small overview of the three models.

Seed – The Tour Pro

Noticeable is the lower driver spin and lower ball flight, this four-piece ball has a Soft Cast Urethane Cover and 336 Dimple Pattern, DuPoint Inner Cover, a High energy Rubber Core, offers the Highest Amount of Short Game Spin

Seed – The Pro One

Noticeable is the optimal combination of distance, feel and spin providing tee to green performance. A three-piece ball and softer than The Tour Pro Ball, it has a High energy Rubber Core, Ultra Thin DuPoint HPF Mantle, Soft Cast Urethane Cover and 336 Dimple Pattern and is Incredibly Soft

Seed – The Pro X1

Noticeable characteristics is its maximum performance, featuring a soft feel with a medium to lower and more penetrating ball flight also offering control around the green. Like the Pro One, it is also three-piece, with a High energy Rubber Core, Ultra Thin DuPoint HPF Mantle, Soft Cast Urethane Cover and 318 Dimple Pattern

I took all three models to the Indoor Trackman Centre, then the short game area and course and full disclosure, my shots produced a ball flight that is on the lower side of the spectrum, which I prefer. However, as soon as I pulled out all three models these balls looked and felt soft, which I also prefer.

Of the three models using the Trackman data there was a clear and preferable model for me ….The Seed Pro One. I loved the flight I was able to get. Something I tend to struggle with around greens that are a fraction harder, is the first and second bounce, but I found with the Seed Pro One I could get a little more height without compromising distance, which is fantastic!

With the driver, like the approach play, I found a fraction more height, which is nice and again with the short game shots I was able to manipulate flight and spin which is a luxury to have.

Something that Seed has introduced which is interesting in the golf industry is the subscription model, so if you really like their balls you’re able to subscribe and purchase the ball even cheaper, which in today’s economic climate is a very appealing option!

In short, Seed isn’t just growing a fanbase, they are cultivating a movement. With options to suit every swing speed and playing style, it might just be time to give your usual ball a bit of healthy competition. And who knows? You might find your game blossoms with something a little more… ‘Seeded’.
