Hello golfers! This month Mizuno have provided us with an unbelievable range of wedges, the forged T1 and T3.
With the unbelievably good-looking Mizuno T1 Wedges, something I first noticed was the beautiful shape and in all three finishes, featuring a compact ‘teardrop’ shape with a straighter leading edge, creating a visually appealing profile from any angle.
The design is crafted for precision, confidence, and seamless turf interaction and that’s exactly how it felt when testing. I hit multiple shots from around the short game area before taking it on course and the versatility was exceptional especially from some daunting lies. Going back to the shape of the head, the leading edge as mentioned above was compact and much straighter than what you typically might. However, I loved it! Something that is so crucial to performance is liking the look of a club, and I absolutely loved the look of this wedge, while the finish should not be overlooked as this adds to the appeal.
Engineered for precision and versatility, the T-1 and T-3 offer unmatched feel and control for golfers of all levels. With advanced forging techniques and meticulously crafted designs, these wedges deliver spin consistency, shot versatility, and a touch of Mizuno’s signature elegance.
The wedge comes in three finish models – Black Ion, Blue Ion and Soft White Satin, with all three finishes adding that extra touch to a beautiful looking club. As a personal preference, I thought the black ion head, with the black shaft, combined with the golf pride black out grip, looks as good as it gets!

Now to the performance and when hitting shots around the green I stuck to three basic shots. I hit a bunch of mid-range bunker shots, a more lofted chip and then a chip that had more release once it hit the green and something that I really liked about the wedges was that I had the ability to hit the three shots with one club. The wedges do however have six distinct sole profile options for every golfer’s unique wedge-playing style and course conditions:
X = Most aggressive sole relief for versatility and lower effective bounce
S = Full Swing wedge with straight bounce relief
M = Enhanced relief with “moderate” effective bounce
P = Enhanced relief with “plus” effective bounce
C = Most aggressive relief resulting in a C-Shape
V = Most aggressive relief for versatility and higher effective bounce
One of the other noticeable features was the feel off the face. It should be noted that I did use brand new premium golf balls, but Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forged HD process at their exclusive Hiroshima facility, the T-1 wedges combine 1025 Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel with a Copper Underlay for an unparalleled feel. Every shot resonates with precision and feedback that’s unmistakably Mizuno. The most noticeable difference was in the bunker. I felt like the sole could get through the sand quicker and feel soft off the face resulting in solid shots with some exceptional spin. This ties in nicely with the grooves feature in the face, with the Mizuno wedges offering a tighter groove pattern which can enhance spin rates.
As for the Mizuno Pro T-3, this wedge is a brilliant option for golfers looking for a simpler yet classy looking wedge that matches the iron set. The grind options and finish options are smaller by range but that should not be a deterrent from trying these wedges. Something I really liked was the forgiveness, with this wedge is available in three different sole options:
C – Sole: a more aggressive relief resulting in a c shape sole
M – Sole: enhanced relief with moderate effective bounce
S – Sole: Full swing wedge with straight bounce relief
What does this mean? It provides options – for me I use my gap wedge a lot to hit more neutral lofted and fuller shots so choosing a wedge sole like the S would be advantageous. This leads us into needing some versatility in shots around the green and approaching the green so utilising the C and M sole options would be a great choice. The wedge is available in a soft white satin finish which presents extremely well. Equipped with Quad Cut + Grooves and Hydroflow Micro Grooves, both wedges maintain exceptional spin control in all weather conditions, delivering confidence no matter the lie. The T-3’s stronger lofted clubs focus on spin consistency, while the higher lofted clubs provide optimal spin for ultimate control.
In conclusion, whether looking for a sleek, versatile wedge or one that delivers exceptional feel and performance, the Mizuno T1 and T3 wedges have you covered. With their stunning designs, precision engineering, and advanced technologies, these wedges are crafted to elevate your short game, providing control, consistency, and confidence around the greens. The T1 impresses with its range of sole profiles and beautiful finishes, while the T3 offers a more refined option with forgiveness and ultimate spin control. No matter the playing style or skill level, these wedges bring a touch of Mizuno’s signature excellence, ensuring that you’re equipped to take on any challenge the course throws your way.
