Lydia Ko has won the 2015 Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club, becoming the youngest major winner in the history of women’s golf at 18 years, 4 months and 20 days old.

Ko, who began the final round two strokes off the lead, birdied three of the last four holes to shoot a flawless final round 63 (-8). Ko’s 72-hole total of 268 (-16) secured a six-shot victory over Lexi Thompson at the spectacular Alpine setting.

Ko became the youngest winner of the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year in 2014 and the youngest ever golfer to reach No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings in February 2015.

Rolex Director of Image & Communication, Arnaud Boetsch, said:

“Rolex congratulates Lydia Ko on marking a new record in women’s golf. In her final round, Lydia demonstrated incredible talent, courage and composure beyond her years which will doubtless see her continue to reach new heights. Rolex has rich associations with great sporting achievement and we are proud to be a part of the evolving history of the game.”

Playing alongside Ko in the final group, Lexi Thompson carded a final round 70 to finish in second place. Meanwhile Leona Maguire, qualifying through the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings earned low amateur honours finishing T34 on 286.
