SELDOM does a ‘gun’ golfer turn professional then go out and win at their first start in a tournament.

Sure, some superstars of the game have done it.

Now you can add Hannah Reeves name to that elite list following last month’s Ford New South Wales Women’s Open Regional Qualifier at Mollymook Golf Club’s Hilltop course.

The 23-year-old Reeves was one of five players who turned professional before teeing it up in the first event of the 2025-26 women’s professional season.

She was joined by Yerim Kim, June Song, Piper Stubbs and Ann Jang in the pro ranks before the first round at Mollymook

And Reeves’ first-up victory validated the Queenslander’s decision to delay her professional debut, which she did last season to play for Australia at the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship.

The win also guaranteed her a start in the NSW Open later this summer.

ROOKIE VICTORY: Hannah Reeves has scored impressive victories in her first two tournaments since turning professional.

Amazingly, Reeves – who started the final round tied for the lead at one over – played her front nine in five-over-par 41, not realistically threatening a birdie as several competitors raced past.

But after a monstrous drive on the par-four 10th reached the green and set up a two-putt birdie, things clicked.

At that point, Danni Vasquez-Boyd, who watched in amazement as Reeves’ drive ran past her feet on the 10th green, was a three-shot leader.

Just 20 minutes later, after Vasquez-Boyd imploded, Amelia Mehmet Grohn looked to have the tournament in her keeping, only to falter badly in her closing few holes.

All the while, Reeves hung tough, birdies at 14 and 16 seeing her shoot clear, before doing enough over the closing holes to keep the hard-charging Stef Hall at bay by a stroke.

STOP PRESS: Hannah Reeves backed up her victory at Mollymook, with a second win at the NSW Open Wagga qualifier a week later. A second day 66, after an opening round 70, saw Reeves make it a perfect two-from-two in her first two events since turning professional. Another second-event pro in 18-year-old Ann Jang finished a stroke behind.
