MASSIVE changes are afoot at Port Kembla Golf Club with plans for a considerable upgrade to the course and club.
Members of Port Kembla Golf Club and Wests Illawarra have voted on a proposal to transform their golf club into a premier golfing and entertainment hub.
They have given golf entertainment company Swing Factory the green light on the landmark redevelopment with plans to develop a state-of-the-art driving range equipped with the latest technology, an architecturally designed 18-hole mini putt putt course, a full clubhouse refurbishment, alongside significant infrastructure upgrades across the championship course itself.
Swing Factory, an Australian-owned and operated company, has venues already established across New South Wales at venues like Terrey Hills and Maitland as well as in Queensland and Victoria.

According to Port Kembla Golf Club CEO Danny Munk it was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure the long-term future of Port Kembla Golf Club while delivering new experiences that reflected the way people wanted to enjoy golf today.
“With Swing Factory’s proven track record, members can be confident the club will remain a first-class golf destination while opening up exciting new opportunities for growth, tourism and community engagement,” said Munk.
A development application will be lodged with Wollongong City Council this month [November] and following its approval, construction is expected to take about 12 months to complete.
Golf course operations and play will continue while the works are being completed.
“The Port Kembla Golf Club redevelopment reflects a shared vision to safeguard the long-term viability of the club, preserve its contribution to the local sporting community, and create an iconic tourism asset for the Illawarra,” said Munk.
“It will create a modern, inclusive and family-friendly destination for golfers and non-golfers alike, appealing to both local residents and visitors.”
