A golfer tees off on the Ocean Dunes course, King Island.

THE first direct Brisbane-to-King Island flights will streamline access to Tasmania’s gems at Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes like never before.

Charter specialists Alliance Airlines have scheduled a direct service for November and December to cater for the burgeoning demand to play at two of Australia’s most memorable layouts.

Hosted two-night, three-day tours have been locked in for November 16-17 and December 10-11.

Golfers from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, northern NSW and all points in between are expected to zero in on the new charter tour service.

Most of all, it will mean you can board a 7.15am flight in Brisbane in golf gear and be teeing off at Ocean Dunes before noon the same day.

The progressive move to a more regular tour offering follows the success of two sold out tours for 24 players direct from Brisbane in 2021.

The new direct two-hour, 45-minute flight on an 80-seat Fokker 70 jet eliminates the hassle of stopping in Melbourne for a change of planes. It also offers greater baggage capacity for golfers.

The two-night, three-day tours have been organised to offer golfers and adventurers flexible options to enjoy the golfing delights and broader tourist appeal of King Island.

A three-round package to play Ocean Dunes and Cape Wickham (twice) is available or a two-round option to play Ocean Dunes-Cape Wickham with an island tour on day 3.

Beyond an unforgettable golf experience, the King Island Dairy, King Island Distillery, the soaring Cape Wickham Lighthouse and the island’s pristine natural beauty offer a unique mix of attractions.

The captivating Cape Wickham Golf Links.

Twin-share stays at Cape Wickham’s villa-style accommodation, with sweeping ocean views, or bed-and-breakfast accommodation in Currie township are included plus a celebratory crayfish or steak dinner.

The flexibility of the charter service maximises the opportunity to play golf on day 3 before a late afternoon flight home with a smile on your face.

The captivating Cape Wickham Golf Links, with its stunning ocean holes and vistas, has earned a worthy ranking at No. 3 on Australian Golf Digest’s 2022-23 list of Australia’s top 100 golf courses.

There is more than a touch of playing the best Irish or Scottish links as hole after hole seeps into the senses.

You’d call it a one-off experience except there is the chance to play the course a second time.

Ocean Dunes, rated No. 13 in the country, also features some of Australia’s most photographed locations with the craggy features on its most challenging ocean holes.
