Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula is one of Australia’s most popular golfing destinations. Featuring some of the country’s highest-rated courses along with jaw-dropping scenery, golfers are spoiled for choice.

The Dunes Golf Links
Links golf is ‘real golf’ at The Dunes Golf Links which continues to set the standard as one of Australia’s premier golfing destinations. Nestled in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, The Dunes offers a pure links experience that combines world-class course design, outstanding hospitality, and a unique coastal landscape that makes every round unforgettable.
Designed by Tony Cashmore, the championship course at The Dunes has long been recognised among Australia’s best public access courses. The rolling dunes, firm fairways, and strategic bunkering challenge golfers of all abilities while remaining true to traditional links style golf. Complementing the Championship Course is the 9-hole Cups Course, perfect for families, beginners, or those looking to sharpen their short game in a relaxed environment.
Beyond the fairways, The Dunes is dedicated to delivering exceptional service. The clubhouse provides panoramic views over the course, offering the perfect place to relax before or after a round. For those seeking to extend their stay, The Links Lodge – purpose built for the travelling golfer – provides modern, comfortable accommodation just a short walk from the first tee. Each room is designed with golfers in mind, creating an easy transition from rest to play.
The Dunes also caters for groups and events, whether it be corporate golf days, special celebrations, or tailored packages for travelling golf parties. The dedicated team ensures each occasion is professionally managed and memorable for every guest.
The Mornington Peninsula itself adds another layer to the experience. With pristine beaches, award-winning wineries, and natural attractions nearby, visitors can combine golf with the region’s many lifestyle offerings, making The Dunes an ideal destination for both domestic and international travellers.
Above all, The Dunes prides itself on accessibility. As a public access facility, it welcomes everyone – from seasoned golfers chasing championship challenges to newcomers eager to learn the game. This inclusive approach ensures The Dunes remains a vibrant and welcoming golfing community.

Portsea Golf Club
The year 2026 will mark 100 years since golf was first played at Portsea Golf Club, a century as one of Australia’s true golfing gems down on the Mornington Peninsula. With its naturally rolling fairways and stunning vistas across Port Phillip Bay, Portsea has long offered a unique test and is steeped in history.
The club has undergone many changes over the years, led by famous architects Alex Russell (designer of the famous Royal Melbourne East and Yarra Yarra), Sloan Morpeth and, more recently, OCCM Golf (Ogilvy, Clayton, Cocking and Mead), with Portsea recently appointing CDP, comprising the world-renowned Mike Clayton, Mike DeVries & Frank Pont to lead the club in its next stage of development.
Clayton expressed his excitement in a recent press release, stating, “I’m delighted to be back advising Portsea…the back nine is one of the best in the state and, by definition, the country”.
“The mix of couch and fescue is a superior surface and the quality of the strike is unmatched,” he added in describing a change that could “transform” Portsea’s conditioning.
Along with changes to the course, Clayton sees, “a big space by the new clubhouse to make a great short game area, something which members have never had”.
Prior to the appointment of CDP, Portsea has recently installed a fully automated irrigation system, which will further improve turf quality and future-proof the course in the event of prolonged drought conditions.
This major investment will allow the course to remain in top shape throughout the year, and regardless of the variable weather conditions.
The year kicks off with the Celebrity Pro Am in early January, a tournament dating back to 1976, when five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson claimed his first of three victories. Since then, the event, which consistently attracts a topquality field, has featured multiple famous winners, including 1991 Open Champion Ian Baker Finch and Clayton himself.
Portsea is headed in an exciting direction, and whilst it remains a private club, it does offer a handful of public tee times across the week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
Interstate and international visitors also have the opportunity to come and experience the improvements, with additional tee times available for enquiry online.

Moonah Links
Just 90 minutes from Melbourne on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Moonah Links is arguably one of the most comprehensive golf resorts in Victoria. Located in a region renowned for golf and drawing favourable comparisons to the Monterey Coast in California.
Peter Thomson used the ancient, undulating dunes and natural contours of this land to shape and design the now famous Open Course, which played host to the Australian Open in 2003 and 2005. The Moonah Classic in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2020, and the Victoria PGA Championship in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Measuring 6810 metres, the Open Course is a natural stadium layout with wide undulating fairways of pure couch grass, punctuated with pot bunkers and leading onto large multi-tiered greens, making this course a true test for all levels of golfer.
They also have the Legends Course, which stands as a tribute to past champions who have contributed to the rich history of Australian golf. In contrast to The Open Course, which was purpose built to challenge the modern champion, the Legends Course is a more friendly golfing experience for players of all ages and abilities. At 6315 metres, the course is a loop of 18 holes that generally follow the valleys through a variety of landscapes ranging from ancient Moonah Woodlands to open links land. The fairways are generous and the putting surfaces gentle, but the bunkering style is bold and wild in appearance.
Moonah Links Resort might be known for its award-winning championship golf courses but whether playing golf or not everybody is made welcome.
You don’t need to be a golfer or club member to enjoy the delights Executive Chef Sailesh Vala serves in Pebble’s bright contemporary dining room. Open to golfers, locals, hotel guests or even those just in town for the day – Pebble’s welcomes all those with a love for good quality dining paired with beautiful golf course views.
While in the clubhouse, the Spike Bar is the place for coffee, drinks, and casual dining, while taking in the stunning views of the 18th fairway.
For a relaxing getaway, book into luxury accommodation. Moonah Links offers 70 deluxe rooms and suites, all with balconies or terraces overlooking the stunning golf courses or central putting green.
Also, onsite at Moonah Links are eight versatile and light filled conference and events spaces including three executive lodges, along with a range of delegate packages to suit individual requirements.
