PGA TOUR-Affiliated Tours. Australian Player Results for the week of March 26, 2018

The PGA TOUR and its affiliated Tours boasts a large roster of Australians as members. Here is the recap from this past week’s action and the Australians’ performances.

 

Houston Open

March 29 – April 1

GC of Houston, Humble, Texas

Purse: $7,000,000 ($1,260,000 to the winner)

*This event offered the final opportunity for players not exempt for the Masters to play their way into the year’s first major championship. The player had to win the Houston Open to qualify.

Aaron Baddeley 74 (-1) $13,440 The Houston Open marked Baddeley’s 12th start of the season. He has missed the cut four times and owns one top-10 (Shriners Hospitals/T10)
Steven Bowditch DNP Has played in one PGA TOUR event this season.
Greg Chalmers T70 (-3) $13,930 After entering the final round two shots back, Chalmers shot a 9-over 81 to fall out of contention. Of his 14 starts this season, Chalmers has made the cut five times. His best finish and only top-25 came at The Honda Classic, where he finished T17.
Jason Day DNP
Matt Jones T52 (-7) $16,082 In 10 starts this season, Jones’ best finish came at Corales Puntacana where he finished T28. His last and only PGA TOUR win was at the 2014 Houston Open, where he beat Matt Kuchar in a playoff.
Marc Leishman DNP
Geoff Ogilvy Cut (+1) In a total of nine starts this season, Ogilvy has failed to make the cut for the sixth time. His only top-25 came at the Corales Puntacana where he finished T22.
Rod Pampling Cut (-2) After an opening-round, 6-under 66, Pampling shot a 4-over 76 in his second round to miss the cut.

Stuart Appleby Cut (+6) Appleby missed the cut for the first time in his third start this season. He falls to 97th on the regular season money list.
Jamie Arnold  T22 (-11) $ 5,316.30 After a strong showing last week at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open (T11), Arnold added another top-25 with his finish. He moved up 10 spots on the regular season money list, to 56th.
Brett Drewitt Cut (-1)

 

This marked the third time Drewitt has missed the cut this season in seven starts. His best finish this season came at The Bahamas Great Exuma, where he finished T3. He is 27th on the regular season money list.
Nick Flanagan DNP
Rhein Gibson MC (-2) In his seventh start of the season, Gibson misses the cut for the first time. He owns two top-10s and five top-25 finishes. He falls to 10th on the regular season money list.
Mathew Goggin DNP
Bronson La’Cassie DNP
Curtis Luck T5 (-15) $20,075 Luck recorded his first top-10 of the season. This week marked the first time he has shot all four rounds under par. He moved up 20 spots to 35th on the regular season money list.
James Nitties DNP
Cameron Percy T22 (-11) $5,316 In his second start of the season, he recorded his first top-25. His only win on the Web.com tour came in 2014, at the Price Cutter Charity tournament.

132 players will compete at each of the five qualifying tournaments with hopes of earning their cards for 2018. Three qualifying tournaments remain.

  • April 3-6 Q-School-USA West 2 (Wigwam Golf Club, Litchfield Park, Arizona)
  • April 24-27 Q-School- USA East 2 (The club at Eaglebrooke, Lakeland, Florida)
  • May 1-4 Q-School- Canada (Crown Isle Resort &GC, Courtenay, BC, Canada)
