LOCKDOWN golf is different in every club and at the picturesque Shelly Beach GC on the NSW Central Coast it has necessitated a nine-hole competition and social play only to cater for its 1200-plus membership.

The women’s committee, through their 250-plus closed members Facebook group, decided to add a bit of fun with the Covid Cup competition in August.

A combination of the best five scores from both nine-hole loops was determined by accessing Golf Link at the end of competition and an Iron-Woman trophy was also determined the same way to find the most rounds played.

The competition proved an all-round winner as it was easy to administer – all Covid safe and, most importantly, kept
the members connecting with each other albeit through social media.

The competition proved very close with Ann Baker (102 points) declared the 2021 Covid Cup champion.

The Iron Woman award deservedly went to Di Hoschke who played every day in August, bar one when it was pouring rain.

Other placegetters were Maria Mather, Di Mabey, Michelle Pearce, Eva Hartzell and Jenny Thompson. Everyone at the club agrees sincerely that this is one event that is not playeed ever again.
