Siblings’ historic Liverpool double

THERE’S nothing like producing a winning streak in the family … especially when it comes to club championships.

And if ever you doubted whether or not golf was a game for youngsters, take a drive out to Liverpool Golf Club and find out for yourself.

Siblings Mirabelle and Adam Naaman created club history there when the pair won the women’s and the men’s club championships on a challenging championship golf course that has hosted several NSW Opens.

In what can only be described as a remarkable and unique outcome, Mirabelle and Adam were extremely proud of their achievements – not just for themselves but for each other as well.

Regularly spotted practicing together at the club, golf operations manager Brent Dale described the pair as “two of the hardest working golfers at our club”.

Adam had been in the cauldron of a club championship before – he was defending champion.

Still, he showed the benefits of that experience, coming from two shots behind in the final round to win by one stroke.

Yet Mirabelle probably upstaged big brother and really stole the show with her achievement.

At the tender age of 13 and a cadet member at the club, she shot three-under par in the final round to clear out and win the women’s championship by an amazing 10 shots.

Both players cut their teeth by coming through the junior ranks at Liverpool … and also have their eyes set on a future in golf.

Adam headed off to college in the United States last month [January] while Mirabelle is continuing her studies as a student at Westfield Sports High School. 

Mirabelle was also recently awarded a scholarship at the club, which will see her receive assistance with tuition and entry fees into various elite junior tournaments.

No doubt the great Jack Newton will get his opportunity to get a glimpse of her talent when she competes in some of his Foundation events this year.
