WHEN it comes to tipping winners and high place-getters on the PGA Tour, Wayne Hoger (aka One-Putt) is your go-to man.

Last month, Wayne, who plays his golf at Cabarlah Golf Course just outside Toowoomba on the Darling Downs, finished atop Inside Golf’s Teepster tipping competition.

And for his amazing tipping prowess he won a set of Srixon irons (4-PW).

“The Srixon irons look and feel brilliant,” said Wayne, who plays off a seven handicap.

“I cannot wait to get out and give them a hit.

“I’d also like to thank Inside Golf and Srixon for everything you have done running and organising such a great competition with such a fantastic prize. My son is very jealous.”

So, what’s the secret to Wayne’s tipping genius?

“I don’t know, but I think there was a fair bit of luck involved although I do study the form,” said storeman Wayne.

The hundreds of tipsters who entered Inside Golf’s tipping comp now know who One-Putt is.

One-Putt Wayne told Inside Golf “putting is the best part of my game”.

“When I am putting well I usually score well,” said Wayne, who understands the idiom “drive for show, putt for dough”.

It was South African and four-time Open champion Bobby Locke who coined the phrase “you drive for show, but putt for dough”.

Locke built his success around his outstanding putting ability while One-Putt Wayne is gaining a reputation as a top tipster.

HOW TO PLAY: Simply select a golfer from the chosen PGA Tour tournament, and their winnings for that week become your (virtual) earnings.

For example, if a player earns $500,000 in an event then your “virtual” earnings are $500,000. If a player misses the cut
(or withdraws), you earn $0 for that event.

The catch? You can only select the same golfer once per year. Once you pick them, they will be unavailable for the rest of the season.

For example, if you pick Dustin Johnson for the Masters, then he will be off your roster for the remainder of the season. So you must choose wisely!

But there was a new and exciting twist in 2021. If your chosen player finishes top-5 or better in the event, they go back into your stable and you can use them again.

Your “earnings” will build throughout the season, and the reader/tipster with the highest earnings will win the prizes for the month/season.

Playing is free.
