Guy Wall poses with the Australian PGA Seniors Championship trophy.

GUY Wall won the rain-shortened Australian PGA Seniors Championship played at Richmond Golf Club.

Wall defeated former European Tour star Peter Lonard in a playoff for the title courtesy of sinking a six-metre birdie putt on the fifth extra hole after both players fired four-under par rounds of 66.

Due to heavy rain the event, short of Queensland players due to border restrictions, was reduced to an 18-hole shootout.

In the lead-up to the championship 28 sponsors and pro-am teams, each sporting, “a legend”, hit the course.

Team MaC Insolvency and PGA legend Ben Jackson won the day.

Even though the weather threw a spanner in the works, the overall event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

For the record, more than 100 golf fans braved the weather to follow the playoff between Wall and Lonard.
