GOLFERS will be hard-pressed finding a golf club that charges less than $20 to play its 18-hole (par-72) golf course that has a Slope rating of 128.
Well, if you venture to the mid-north coast of NSW you’ll discover Safety Beach Golf Club, 25kms north of Coffs Harbour, charges $19 for unlimited golf.
“I don’t think you will get that anywhere in Australia,” said the club’s friendly professional Terry Perfrement.
Safety Beach Golf Club, formerly known as Woolgoolga RSL Golf Club, had a name change when Wyong Leagues Group amalgamated with Woolgoolga RSL.
“Woolgoolga RSL leased the golf club from an overseas entity and now Wylong Leagues Group are trying to purchase or lease the golf course long-term,” Perfrement explained.
Safety Beach golf course stretches to 5678m and is enjoyed by all levels of players.
“It is a tricky layout where position is arguably more important than length,” Terry said. “Water comes into play on 15 holes with gently sloping greens to multi-tiered putting surfaces.”
“That allows for some tricky pin placements while the varying ocean breezes and bunkers help defend the golf course.”
You won’t be alone wandering the fairways and navigating the lakes on this beautiful piece of seaside paradise as there is a vast kangaroo population acting as curious spectators.
Perfrement told Inside Golf the club had experienced a 20 per cent spike in membership in recent times.
The fully-stocked pro shop offers all the leading brands of golf gear and paraphernalia.
