Nelson Bay Golf Club in NSW has been recognised for its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. 

Nelson Bay Golf Club has been awarded the Environmental Sustainability Award, at the 2024 Clubs NSW Clubs and Community Awards, recognising its outstanding commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices. 

The award celebrates clubs that have implemented significant projects and initiatives benefiting the environment, with Nelson Bay’s submission, “Putting Nature First,” detailing a range of environmental efforts undertaken by the club and its dedicated team.

Key initiatives showcased in the submission included, Innovative Course Maintenance, which involved the use of Nanobubble technology and hybrid machinery to maintain the golf course sustainably.

Volunteer Contributions, showcasing the work of course volunteers in developing gardens, renewable pathways, and recycling programs, Wildlife Conservation, in collaboration with the Port Stephens Koala Hospital to rehome injured koalas, and in offering Kangaroo Tours, guided tours highlighting the natural beauty and wildlife of the local area.

The club’s efforts were bolstered by letters of support from the Port Stephens Koala Hospital and Kate Washington, MP for Port Stephens, who also praised the club in a Community Recognition Statement in Parliament.

“We are thrilled and honoured to receive this award,” said David Lulham, General Manager at Nelson Bay Golf Club. “This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, members, and staff who are committed to making a positive impact on the environment. We are grateful for the support of our community, which is essential to the success of our initiatives.”

Nelson Bay Golf Club, located on the NSW mid north coast, is dedicated to continuing its efforts in environmental sustainability and looks forward to launching new projects that further benefit the community and the environment.
