THE Srixon ZX MK II irons are fantastic.

What a beautifully constructed iron-head that really looks unreal. I have seen these in person, but never hit them so I was really curious as to the performance of the iron.

Something I love about the design is whether you are using either the ZX MK II 7, 5 or 4 model the top line of the irons are the exact same, which makes for an easy decision if you want to mix and match the iron-heads.

Typically, I haven’t done this in the past as the longer irons top line presents poorly however these don’t and are all the same.

I started with the ZX MK II 7 and then progressively worked my way to the 5s and 4s. To be completely honest, I found little difference between the 7s and 5s and I thought the 4s were awesome.

All models were fantastic to use however the standouts were the 7s.

My favourite irons. They present beautifully from three iron down to pitching wedge which sometimes isn’t always the case with irons.

I love the look of a great pitching wedge because I use it so often on course and also when I get the chance to work on my swing. Now let’s explore the technology in the irons.

ZX MK II model 7: It’s a player’s iron with tour-preferred looks and the pure feel of a premium blade offering total control – ZX7 MK II delivers it all.

It features a compact shape, narrow top-line, single-piece forging, and narrow sole.

Let’s chat about the distinct features of the irons.

The Pureframe. An all-new design characteristic exclusive to ZX7 MK II irons. PureFrame enhances feel at impact by reducing unwanted vibrations.

The PureFrame ridge is forged into the body of the iron – just behind the sweet spot – as an 80% thicker portion of 1020 carbon steel. Strategically placed right where you strike thwe ball, the result is a remarkably soft yet solid strike that doesn’t sacrifice any of ZX7s famous tour-calibre workability.

The other feature I want to talk about is the Tour V.T. Sole.

The Dynamic Tour V.T. Sole helps maintain clubhead speed through impact for clean strikes across fairways, rough and sand – even if you contact the turf slightly behind the ball.

A higher bounce on the leading edge prevents digging; then, a lower bounce on the trailing edge curves away from the turf, so you can still manipulate face-angle for maximum workability.

Now for the most surprising club I have reviewed yet.

The Srixon ZX 7 MK II driver.

Srixon is on a winner here. Why was I so surprised?

If you have read my reviews before you will know that I love a smaller driver head, a matte black finish and custom options in regards to driver length and shaft. I loved it!

Everything about this driver is brilliant. When you’re getting fit for a club, we aren’t really looking for our best shots to get better (added bonus if it does) but we are looking to get our worst shots performing better.

That’s exactly what this driver did for me. I was able to get my five out of 10 shots much closer to an 8 or 9 and that’s down to design.

Let’s talk about the design.

The ZX7 Mk II driver is configured for those seeking maximum adjustability in a compact silhouette. Its two swappable heel and toe weights, plus adjustable hosel sleeve, mean you can easily dial in your desired launch condition.

Its tight shape profile provides maximum workability and the freedom of complex shot-making. My preferred shot is a slight draw, but I do like to play around with the height.

Playing in Melbourne means the wind plays a factor hence wanting to flight the ball differently.

Something the Srixon ZX7 MK II driver does have by design is the Rebound Frame. Most drivers have one flex zone.

The Rebound Frame has two. Like a spring within a spring, Rebound Frame elevates COR across the face for increased ball-speed. And that extra ball speed leads to more distance off the tee which everyone loves.

Overall, my thoughts were that Srixon are on a real winner here. They are of the highest quality, designed methodically and results are proven through performance.

I can’t recommend their products enough.
