Australian Scott Laycock scored the 15th hole-in-one of his career recentlywhen he aced the sixth hole at Namseoul Country Club in the final round of the GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship.
A sweetly struck four iron landed on the front of the 235 yard (215 metre) par three green and rolled into the hole.
“I have been hitting it well there all week and today the pin position was a bit left, where my ball has been landing,” Laycock said after his round.
“I thought, ‘hang on’ and sure enough, it went in.”
Laycock closed with an even par 72 to finish the tournament at one under.
It was the second hole-in-one of the week following Korean Maeng Dong-seop’s ace on the 229 yard (209 m) par three 17th on Friday.
Countryman Park Sung-kug scored a rare albatross — three under par — on the 515 yard (471 m) par five ninth hole, also on Friday.
Unfortunately for Laycock, if he had scored his ace on the 17th hole, he would have been rewarded with a new car courtesy of one of the sponsors.
“At least I had the honour on the seventh,” a rueful Laycock said.
