The sprawling, bustling Chinese industrial city of Shenzhen is probably not the ideal background for one of the most comprehensive golf complexes on the globe. As well as the stunning courses, there is also a 64-bay floodlit driving range, complemented by two natural turf ranges with multi-tiered playing surfaces and the club is home to China’s only David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

Of course, you can’t be expected to swing away all day – Mission Hills has a 315-room hotel attached to the 27,600sqm clubhouse so it will never be far from beer to bed. The club not only boasts the largest pro-shop in Asia, there is also a badminton hall, swimming pool and snooker tables for that post-dinner cigar after dining in one of the seven restaurants which include Chinese, Japanese and international cuisine.
