Golf Membership Specials NSW

Written by Richard Fellner
Pacific Dunes

New South Wales Central Coast golf club Pacific Dunes has launched external membership packages for the first time in three years. Interest in membership at the Troon Managed 18-hole layout has already been strong with an overwhelming number of enquiries, and the first member signed up within 48 hours.

The external packages will provide members with unlimited golf and preferred member tee times, members’ guest rates, discounts on merchandise and food and beverage, members’ events and preferred prices for clinics and tuition. Members at Pacific Dunes will also receive up to $4,000 in value with access to the Troon Golf Advantage Program which provides members with complimentary vouchers to play other Troon Golf managed courses around Australia including Brookwater Golf Club and Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club.

Pacific Dunes general manager Brendan Currie said the Club was excited to launch an exclusive external membership package for the first time since 2005.

“With 80 members currently, we are looking forward to welcoming more members to the Club,” Mr Currie said. “Since opening in 2005, Pacific Dunes has been consistently ranked within the country’s top 50 public access golf courses, so we expect interest in this new membership package to be strong."

Local Medowie resident and keen golfer Frank Hough said he was excited to become the Club’s newest external member.

“As a local, I have played Pacific Dunes on many occasions and have been waiting for an opportunity to become an external member for quite some time,” Mr Hough said. “I am looking forward to making Pacific Dunes my home course and becoming part of the community of golfers which has formed.”

The Golfers Club NSW

The Golfers Club NSW (GCNSW) is an initiative of Women's Golf NSW. GCNSW was developed to promote the sport of golf to men and women of all ages, and to provide everyone with the opportunity of playing the game of golf in a social and relaxed environment. GCNSW is perceived to be a nurturing ground for future club members, and they actively encourage members to move on and join a proper club.

There is no joining fee for GCNSW. Only an annual Membership Fee of $125 per financial year. Membership is renewable annually, from the start of the new financial year. GCNSW Members are allowed to play in other events, and are thus not restricted to GCNSW specific activities. After providing 3 official scores, players can get an official Golf Australia Handicap. If you're currently a member of another clubs, you are welcome to join the GCNSW, provided you maintain the membership of your home club (i.e. you will need to hold dual memberships).

Members receive a Golf Australia Handicap & Golflink Card, a free golf clinic, PIP Insurance, the opportunity for competition play midweek or weekends, a newsletter, interactive website and more. Members can play anywhere in Australia, casually or competitively.

Social Clubs are encouraged to join as a group. All players can be allocated handicaps and can still hold all their own events. All you need to do is request a results sheet once your competition is completed send the sheet back to WGNSW and all your handicaps will be adjusted accordingly on GOLFLink. You will also be able to take part in the many GCNSW social competitions that will be organised at various courses.

You can join GCNSW by completing a membership application form on the WGNSW website (www.wgnsw.org.au ), and have a membership kit sent directly to your door.

Bardwell Valley - Sydney Inner City golf

This would have to be one of the most jaw-dropping offers we've ever seen. In a classic try-before-you-buy promotion, Bardwell Valley Golf Club is offering 4 months Full Playing Membership, from March to June, for only $50.00. Total. No joining fee, no green fees or subs, just $50 to play as much golf as you want for four full months.

In addition to the golf, new members will also get access to an official Golf Australia handicap, and the opportunity to play in the member comps, currently on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The course did a similar promotion last year in which over 200 golfers took up the offer. 80 of those continued playing as members. The club hopes that more golfers will take the offer this year, and continue on as long-term members. Players who decide to stay on as members after the promotion period will only need to pay the annual membership fee of just $695, which can be split up into monthly payments if the player desires.

"Joining a golf course can be a big commitment," explains Andy Lloyd, general manager of Bardwell Valley. "This promotion will allow golfers to get a taste of the course -- and enjoy what we've got to offer -- without paying a joining fee or a year of subs. Bardwell Valley is a good test of golf. Though we're a short course (Par 62), we have tight greens which will really challenge your short game. The course is a bit hilly, with a creek through middle, and beautiful bushland surrounds."

Oatlands

The clubs that hosts the NSW Women’s Open -- featuring some of the worlds top female golf stars -- and is located in the true geographical heart of Sydney and with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere should be the first choice for the discerning golfer.

According to Channel 10’s Tim Webster, Oatlands is a real winner:

"I joined Oatlands Golf Club in 1989, so it's close to 20 years now. I'd just become serious about the game and needed somewhere close to my home at Normanhurst. I just wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. Oatlands is a great course, one of Sydney's surprises when you consider it's tucked away off very busy Pennant Hills Rd. Over the years it's been improved to the extent that it's a pleasure to invite visitors, you look forward to every game... and at my standard I see a lot of the golf course. A terrific Clubhouse, Heritage Pro Shop, friendly Members, nice Dining Room, what more could you want? Come and join us."

For golfers 35 years old and under, there is no joining fee. For all others, interest free installments are on offer.
